Flying a passenger plane is within the reach of everybody
Many people dream of taking control of a small plane to discover our beautiful countryside from above. A few have taken to the air, and are proud to be part of these privileged few who crisscross the sky with their families and friends.
Far from the clichés of it only being the preserve of those that excel at mathematics or the ultra-rich – flying a passenger plane is actually within everyone’s reach.
The AeroClub Rhone-Alpin flying school operates in the form of DTO (Declared Training Organization), a body recognized by European lawmakers and which will teach you to work towards a European Private Pilot License.
Life is short and the older you get, the more you feel it. Indeed, the shorter it is. People sometimes just lose their capacity to walk, run, travel, think, and experience life.
We will put everything in place and adapt to your needs and your availability; while adapting to your pace and your ability.
The goal is to put the plane and the human at the centre of training whilst ensuring safety and also conviviality; so that your training is a pleasure above all.

What you can do in the Flying School
Formerly named first flight experience, the discovery flight will allow you to fly over the pre-Alps, Vercors national park, fly over your house, or to fly through Rhone valley. And much more. It’s a fabulous idea for a birthday present or other special occasion gift. Notwithstanding that is simply a pleasure to fly with family and friends (3 people max). We can also take some video of your trip when requested beforehand.
A real gift idea or just for a personal pleasure to live with family or friends. (3 people max.) The possibility of a small custom video editing is available on request.

You dream but you are not sure that flying a plane is for you. You’ve hesitated before in taking to the skies. However, you would like to try a few lessons before you fully commit. No problem. We offer tailormade flights to assess your flying skills and navigation ability.
You will be considered a student. And, all your flights will be recorded in your own logbook. If you decide that flying is not yet for you, you’ll at least have had incredible memories and an unforgettable experience.
When you’re ready to ‘go-all-the-way’ you will at least have a few hours flying experience. Call us for more information.
If you have ever wondered if you’ve got what it takes to be able to learn to fly, what would you expect your reaction to be when taking the controls of a small plane?
That’s what ‘Initiation Flights’ are for!
You’ll first have a 20-minute briefing to discover everything you need to know about the aircraft. Followed by a 30 minutes flight with an instructor. You will be able to take over the controls; and following a debriefing, we’ll be able to answer your questions. And, give us your feedback. Anything else? Oh yes, a very special gift.

Mountain flying brings another dimension to leisure aviation. Sumptuous landscapes, precise steering and concentration are essential for this kind of flying.
At the moment we do not provide instruction Aeroclub Rhone-Alpin but many trips are shared with qualified pilots. Mountain qualification training is coming soon.
